Misunderstandings

“Funny how easily misunderstandings
Blossom as if they were flowers,
Sprinkles of so many colors
Dancing with the breeze,
Its pollen in the air as rumors do,
Going from a flower to a different bee.

Misinterpretations of kindness for flirtation,
A friendship that in the eyes of a stranger
Comes out looking like a relationship,
And two friends become lovers
In a romanticized heartbeat of temptation.

When the words that go from
Mouth to mouth come a full circle,
The friends learn the news about themselves,
Surprised to find their truthful and honest friendship
To be misread, but indeed, at least
They know it shows how much they care.”
